  • Functional artificial blood could solve a lot of problems, so why hasn't it been created yet?

    Dear SciShow heroes of mine,

even if I am not able to be your patreon (now), I have a wish. Could you please make video about Rh factor? I am Rh negative and when I tried to search on YT some info.. I found out that I am illuminati, reptilian and other """so true""" information.

I would love to hear about origin of this mutation? or what it is, the risk for pregnant mothers is now pretty common knowledge I hope. But mostly I need ground-standing info from relevant source. Lighthouse in the dark depths of internet <3

Thanks for great work you are doing

Here's an idea, kidneys make blood right?
Why not create... Or harvest kidneys in a lab to specifically create a continued source of blood?
All you need to do is provide the kidneys with what they need to keep working and there you go, blood bags on demand. :)

Fun fact: Perfluorocarbon is actually really cool cause in it's pure form it's a liquid that you can breathe in and it's actually used in modern torture! They will place their victim in a small pool with a top that's completely dark and the victim will think they're drowning and the transition from breathing the liquid to the air is painful so they'll take the victim out and tell them that they revived them and if they don't give them information they will "drown" them again and they can do this as much as need without the fear of the victim being harmed

Many PFCs can bind with Albumin in the blood and be transported to various areas of the body where their toxicity causes diseases like cancer with chronic low-level exposure. They can also cause acute symptoms if exposed to a large dose. That could explain the side effects of the fake blood prototypes. Though I don't know what exact compound was used in the fake blood tested, PFCs generally are considered persistent organic pollutants that can be found in almost everyone's blood in the ppt to ppb levels. It's just my layman's perspective.

Now what about platelets? My local blood center begs everyone to do apheresis instead of regular whole blood, but did a triple platelet donation yesterday and being hooked up for 90 minutes starts to get uncomfortable. I think it's worth it to help save lives, but don't find it as easy as regular whole blood donation.
