So why do people who don't earn enough money go to live in new York City? Only reason i can think of is for school, but hey, that's just the general struggle of student life; unless you're rich, you're not going to be living in a nice place. If you were going for a job, I would presume that the job could at least support a decent place for 1 person.

I went there & I live in Chicago and even though Chicago is known for violence, it's waaaay better than Newyork , not as crowded and most of Chicago is actually clean (except the west& Deep South). Most people move to Newyork just for the "experience "they think they're gonna get. But It always smells like shit and there's mutant rats everywhere. People are miserable as hell trying to live paycheck by Paycheck to afford to live in their 500 sq studio apartment. I would never survive in Newyork. Don't know how people adapt to living like that.

  • PoeticPursuits

My apartment is great, it doesn't come with door knobs on any of the rooms so you don't need to make the effort of turning knobs, the doors are larger than the frames so they don't close all the way either, which is great if someone needs to intrude on you easily, two of the windows aren't holstered in so if you need to get in or out without the key you can tap them with just two fingers and they pop out, there are holes leading to a space in the bottom outside that house stray cats use as shelter so it is super cool to see cats all the time despite their defecation causing the house to smell, and the backdoor came with a broken knob so anyone could get in without silly things like a key.

I'm not joking about any of these wonderful features.

Come to the Rust Belt! We have huge Victorian houses in ruins that rent for $2 a month and clean air, because all the factories closed. Cheap living and wide open spaces, plus no employment and scenic ruins from when there were more people and businesses. If you can't take the noise and frustration of the city, and you don't go for the "culture," then get out and get your peace of mind back. :-)
