Crayfish? Seriously? Some scientist must have been alcohol saturated to have thought of that? "Dude, I got an idea...let's put a crayfish in your pint of Guinness...muahahaha!!" It's alive! It's alive! It's aliiive!!!

    Experiment 1.
If there are no results, why should I care for the experiment? It's a waste of my time and pointless information.
    Experiment 2.
So why is sodium high diet makes people drink less? It doesn't make sense.

What if the crayfish just drink/breathe more water (and therefore more alcohol) when they're in social situations? Interaction increases overall activity levels increases respiration

Could the neurons be pre-trained because social crayfish in a tank with many would just flip their tails more often ( because of bumping into each other ), Strengthening the bonds of those neurons thus making them easier to trigger.

Do they assume blood alcohol is ONLY proportional to alcohol concentration in water? It's probably a mistake because a lonely crayfish gets depressed, metabolism slows down, it breathes/drink slower than usual, so alcohol intake rate is diminished. Blood alcohol is what really matters, not alcohol in water, FFS.

Wouldn't 50 to 100 times more crayfish in the tank radically reduce the concentrations of alcohol processed by each animal? If I was sharing a beer with 50 other dudes, I'd probably stay off my back slightly longer too.

.... of course the crowded crayfish will react faster to the alcohol. The oxygen deprivation is a big factor to how alcohol affects the brain. With a loner Crayfish they have more room and more oxygen to breathe. The crowded crayfish are in a tank with a lower % of oxygen because there are more crayfish breathing in oxygen. Try drinking shots and holding your breathe for a min in between shots. You will get messed up.

Eyyy, I didn't know Scishow featured the lab I work in. We do a lot more with crayfish than just alcohol, we study their social dominance behavior, aggression and something more interesting their ability to regulate certain reflexes. Hopefully we get to research a particular part of their brain that allows crayfish to turn their blood cells to neurons!

Yea salt retains water. I could have told you guys that lol. I have POTS, if I don't have a regular intake of salt, I'll get super dehydrated and can't function. The second salt is introduced when I'm feeling like shit, then it's like day and night, I instantly feel a thousand times better.

Salt is weird like that. I care Pink Himalayan Salt around in my purse just in case lol.

Plenty of human crayfish about then. But some people, and some entire pubs, are not. Places where if anything more alcohol is consumed and stronger stuff at that, but all that happens is lots of conversation and contemplation, and the most crustacean things ever get is between the ideals of plato and socrates, or C# and Hascal.

FORD PREFECT: If you’ve never been through a matter transference beam before, you’ve probably lost some salt and protein. The beer you had should’ve cushioned your system a bit. How are you feeling?
