Thank you for this review! I am in a rental S90 T5 Momentum (Sixt Rental, Sea-Tac), on vacation in WA. None of the negative issues you pointed out are an issue for me in my rental. Next year's Chinese made S90 will be even longer and I definitely do not need a vehicle as long as a Lincoln Continental. Because of that, I decided to buy now, and secure a 2017 model--and right now are great savings with the Memorial Day Volvo sales. Thanks to the Internet, and a helpful dealer in Carlsbad, CA, I was able to secure a '17 S90 T6 Inscription, and save $8,147 off the MSRP. When I return home, I will finance it and get it delivered. Anyway, thanks for this and the reviews of cars similar to it--it really helped.

best cars in the human history are made in Germany and in japan..period.

Al, you posted quite possibly the most ignorant comment. Even though "best" is extremely subjective (and you failed to list what it means), there are outstanding cars from the USA and Italy (lots of dogs too!) throughout history (human or otherwise).

Would take the Lexus Gs 450h presidential line to this, the BMW 540i xdrive fully equipped, E 300 fully equipped as well to this. I would only put this ahead of the Audi A6. But it is a lovely package I have to say but I just prefer some of the competition.

I'm glad Volvo is offering a wagon version of this. Any wagon choices should be applauded in North America's barren wagon marketplace! I also have to say I like the overall design of this interior versus the overly swoopy, cluttered, asymmetrical messes offered by some other manufacturers, although it could do with a few MORE buttons so you aren't constantly using the touch screen.

Great vid by the new reviewer, but I've a feeling she just didn't know her way round the infotainment system cause u know - girsl and tech stereotypically . :)

Some Chinese company bought Volvo a while back. Some are still built in Sweden but some are build in China. How can you tell where your Volvo was built?

    • Casanova Frankenstein
      Casanova Frankenstein 3 months ago

+Commentator541 You need to continue this delusional argument with you imaginary friends based on the imaginary things you think I said. Lol! What a loser!

    • Commentator541
      Commentator541 3 months ago

Implying that S90 is built in China for the global market right now is a lie. So is implying that a consumer can not know where does his/her/z car is made. You can play those political games all you want, still won't make it right. You're trying to tarnish the brand. And BTW "FUCK OFF" is not an argument.

    • Casanova Frankenstein
      Casanova Frankenstein 3 months ago

+Commentator541 Sir, you are delusional. I did not say which specific Volvos are built in China. How is asking a question a lie?

Oh, by the way, FUCK OFF!

    • Commentator541
      Commentator541 3 months ago

You article basically confirms what I said, and calls you a liar. Maybe you should read those "facts" before boasting. Yes, I am offended by liars, very much so. To make it clear, if you go and buy an S90, it'll likely be made in Sweden, this will change in late 2019, as Volvo claims. Only other Volvo that is built in China and sold in the US is the S60 long wheel base "Inscription"(bullshit name for a bullshit car).

+Commentator541 You seem offended by my inquiry. I was only looking for facts. Here are some more.

I think id rather buy a Lincoln Continental.

You can find on YouTube an actual comparison of the two in one review. FYI: the reviewer picked the S90 by a slim margin. Next year's S90 will be made in China and it will be as long as the Continental.

      albert7139 5 months ago

Aurora Jones why? More expensive, only slightly faster by a few tenths, poor fuel mileage, it's heavy and looks to ordinary. I'd say the S90 is far more advanced and better looking.

The infotainment sucks??? lol CR staff must not know how to use Apple or Google products. When I sat in the new Volvo, I instantly could figure my way around the infotainment system. Super intuitive and quick.

      rbassdo 5 months ago

acrum04 Agree. We love the system in our XC90. Better than the BMW idrive system in our previous vehicle.

CR says some strange things about Volvos. Every recent reviewer of the Volvo infotainment system, that I know of, said it was intuitive and easy to use. Maybe CR should stick to reviewing kitchen appliances.

+Shao Yu Mai Wang Honestly, the Subaru Levorg is better than the Forester. If only Americans will love wagons better.

    • Shao Yu Mai Wang

The wagon is gorgeous! Too bad North Americans are so lukewarm to wagons and so hot on SUV's (which are all shit). There are some other really nice wagons that never even make it to our shores, so I'm glad Volvo is bringing it over.

Beauty and Ugly are in the eye of the beholder. I like it because it stands out sharply, in both day and night, and will be easily seen (despite whomever sees it thinks it is ugly.)

Why has the priority shifted from practicality, usability to driving experience? I've sat in an S90 and the transmission tunnel is remarkably high for a FWD styled vehicle. Driving experience is subjective and people should be encouraged to book a test drive. Important measurements should be: do passengers get car sick or cramped feet during long trips? Those things matter to real and prospect owners.

    • Commentator541
      Commentator541 3 months ago

Tunnel is HUGE because batteries are there in Hybrid versions.

Obviously. But some people like brands more then they appreciate their money. Competition is almost as good, but costs 30% more.
