Tarell Alvin McCraney Accepts GLAAD Media Award for ‘Moonlight’

  • Tarell Alvin McCraney accepted the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Film – Wide Release at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on April 1. Accepting alongside McCraney were actor Trevante Rhodes and producer Jeremy Kleiner. In his speech, McCraney called for more support for women of color, raised awareness for HIV, and shared about his mother. He left the audience with a powerful message for the future – “we won for ‘Moonlight’ today – now how are we going to win tomorrow?” Legendary singer and songwriter Mary J. Blige presented the award.

    Moonlight is a modern masterpiece. Very happy that Moonlight won the GLAAD as well as the Oscar for Best Picture!
