The removal of these statues is meant to steer attention away from the investigation on Debbie Wasserman Shultz, the DNC, Hillary Clinton, MayoClinic , and Haiti foundation connection. The mainstream media is a tool of manipulation for democrats and will not spill all their beans for everyone to know. When Obama was president he never even cared about the statues and now out of nowhere someone made the call to remove the statues knowing it was going to spark a fire.

The only reason why white liberals care is because they don't want Black people to damage their businesses and livelihood because in liberal states guess who owns and runs all the businesses? White liberals are self serving and will only do something if it benefits them.

  • mike cho
    mike cho 19 hours ago

After African Americans got their "freedom" after the war, they were treated way better in the South anyways. In the North many African Americans had their businesses sabotaged and burned down in places like Chicago, which is very liberal even up to today. All the African Americans getting killed recently that ignited the BLM movement has occurred in liberal states not in Confederate/ red states. Baltimore, Ferguson, Charlotte, dominated by the liberal vote, but yet Liberal elite want to redirect the attention on white nationalists and not on white liberals because they drive the economy in liberal states.

People think that all confederates faught for slavery when in reality only 1 in 1000 confederates faught for slavery. Most southerners who owned slaves took care of them and treated them like family, but there was some who beated and treated them like dirt. There were black confederates during the civil war who volunteered to fight for the confederate army. Black soldiers were even paid more on the confederate side then on the union side. They need to start teaching how history really happened then tell lies.

Though I don't agree AT ALL with the need to continue to celebrate the confederates and their history, from an objective point of view, it is their right to celebrate it. It is their beliefs that this part of history holds value and that is important to them. Don't get me wrong, violence from any group, despite their beliefs should not be tolerated. Your beliefs are protected until they threat someone else's safety or rights. But if they continue to celebrate this day nonviolently then we have to let them. First Amendment protects them too.

NO MATTER how we feel today comparing the southerners to nazi is ignorant and appalling prior to the start of the civil war ALL of America condoned slavery i.e. that tobacco even the northerners were smoking came from southern plantations and the north knew how it was harvested this topic is not as cut and dry as the public school system will have you believe there were no good and bad guys the union soldiers raped and viciously pillaged confederate women and children the south was protecting it's way of life so even though our times have changed and so have our moral it is wrong and un American to deny Americans on both sides of the civil war a memorial I have ancestors on both sides and they were all brave patriotic Americans who confederate or union deserve the honor and respect they fought and died for

I'm from the volunteer state, Tennessee, I had an ancestor, a confederate, fight in this tragic war. The South feels very strongly on this war because a lot of us lost people who our great grandmothers and grandfathers probably once knew. We lost and suffered greatly, the North won at a cost, but victory nonetheless. We are the losers, so the least we ask you let us do is commemorate our fucking dead. Fuck the North.

If the flag is racist then why were their blacks that fought for the south? And don't even bother denying it, you don't know your history if you deny it. I know it for a fact because my 3x great grandpa owned a single slave that volunteered to fight for the south side by side with my (3x) grandpa. What kind of retard fights to keep themselves a slave? He wasn't retarded because the war WASN'T about slavery! As far as the slave goes, my ancestor and his slave were best friends and he wasn't treated like the typical Hollywood slave is (whipped, worked almost to death, etc) which is also false. He was like a ranch hand. Why was he "owned"? No one knows that, maybe so no one else would own him? Maybe because that's how things were back then? William Ellison Jr. was a black slave owner among MANY. Business was business back then. I'm just sick of everyone blaming the confederate flag and white people. The largest slave traders ever were Muslims. I don't hear anyone ragging on them about that? Ulysses S Grant (Union) had slaves among other union soldiers, while Stonewall Jackson (Confederate) was against slavery. (Yeah, civil war was definetly about freeing slaves! NOT) Not to mention the black people in africa who SOLD the defeated tribes to the Europeans/Americans in the first place. Everyone is at fault and that's just how things went back then. If the civil war was truly about slavery you would have seen the emancipation proclamation happen at the BEGINNING of the war not the middle because Lincoln had to pivot his game plan. Not to mention Lincoln himself stated if he could preserve the union without freeing the slaves he would. Cmon people! Don't be sheeple, just remember the winner writes the history. In hindsight, I believe it turns out to be a good thing the USA stood together but I cannot say that it was fair what the union was doing.

Not an American but we had a similar issue with soviet era statues, which is a very painful part of our history. These statues symbolized Soviet oppression but I honestly am glad the government decided to keep them, we cant go around destroying everything that was bad, we should have symbols of what our own wrong doings so that we can grow to overcome and accept it as something wrong we did, we arnt infallible and we shouldnt act like that part of history never happened. Destroying symbols of racisim would almost absolve the crimes there ancestors. Dont look at these statues and see them as beacons of pride, but instead as what they really are; a reminder and a promise that the past will never repeat itself.

whether the Civil War fought or not you must give them credit for putting their lives on the line for principles that they believed in.
the principle of being your own nation with your own economic power ways to protect yourself and what you believe in a nation as a people we need to adopt that same philosophy

I would never honor slavery, but I would honor the people who died fighting for what they believed in. In this case most off the confederate soldiers were fighting for state rights, not just slavery. Slavery is bad and was bad 150 years ago but I will honor the Confederate soldiers who died the same as I will honor the soldiers of the 54th Mass Inf. It was a totally preventable war but that doesn't mean we just forget the people who died on both sides.

Not getting into the whole rest of the stuff, but it should be pointed out that the monument that was shown and quoted from at 3:01 had nothing to do with the Confederacy or any other aspect of the Civil War. It says "the national election november 1876 recognized white supremacy in the south and gave us our state." The Civil War was from 1861 to 1865. I'm assuming that this is actually referring to the compromise of 1877, which ended the era of reconstruction.

Ok, putting my two cents in.

Both sides are VERY VERY annoying an immature about this.
On the one side, guys it is part of our history. Yes what you said is true that it was founded on racism and slavery. But saying all commanders of that war were all racists comparing to today is Very misleading. Robert E Lee was not as racist as most people tend to portray him. In fact he actually had paper in the works (before the civil war) to free his slaves. An he actually would have fought for the Union if his state actually went that route. An he was for reunification after the war and verbally slapped those who were against it. Now for the other commanders who were really bad (looking at you men like General Forrest) Should not even have a statue. You were a lesser commander and you messed up stuff for generations... So no statue for you.

Also many of those statues of soldiers etc, were mass produced. So the confederate statues are the same as union guys.

Now for those who are so gungho about keeping the stuff. MOVE ON! Yes it is your past. But not every leader of the CSA was worth giving a statue. The only one i will say you should have monuments to are people like Lee, Stonewall, an the average soldier(being for both sides, we are all Americans). Otherwise the rest should be put to rest and the history books. An also your using the wrong flag. That is the battle flag, not the official flag. The battle standard has been desecrated enough by far right jerks trying to supposedly keep the CSA tradition alive. When all they are doing is looking like idiots. An sure the blood stained banner looks close. But for supposed civil war guys that loves the littlest details. Then you failed Spectacularly and doing just as much damage to the history your supposedly protecting. Shame on you... AND THE THREATS to those people are even worse!

Do you people HATE U.S. Veterans?

Confederate Veterans ARE U.S. Veterans.....Public Law 85-425, May 23, 1958 (H.R. 358) 72 Statute 133 states – “(3) (e) for the purpose of this section, and section 433, the term ‘veteran’ includes a person who served in the military or naval forces of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, and the term ‘active, military or naval service’ includes active service in such forces.”
As a result of this law the last surviving Confederate Veteran received a U.S. Military pension until his death in 1959, and from that day until present, descendants of Confederate veterans have been able to receive military monuments to place on graves from the Veteran’s Administration for their ancestors. A Confederate Veteran and their Battle Flag should therefore be treated with the same honor and dignity of any other American veteran.
Sounds to me like a lot of people need to get their heads out of the PC sandbox and learn the facts about our country’s history…..including the laws of this country that are set in place to protect exactly what they are so desperately trying to annihilate!

Every one is entitled to there history. Black s were captured and made slaves long before, they came to America and we're slaves here. Hispanics run from there homes because it isn't safe there anymore. Everyone has some history they hate. But making people or cities take down any thing that pertains to the south. Yes slaves were in the North and South. However, not everyone had slaves. Most didn't they worked on rail roads, in mines, farmed, owned stores, it there businesses. I think it is a shame that some people can't get over their past. We learn from mistakes in the past, we grow and learn not to do things in the past. At some point you have to make the Choice to move on, stop reliving the past. Does Africa need to be removed from the world, because some slaves cane from there. Should we remove it because different tribes fought, took prisoners, and sold those prisoners to wealthy trades men. No we don't need to do that, instead it is praised and honored. The South is no different, by removing all of the southern history items now. You are in effect, removing the very thing you should be proud you overcame. You can look at any old southern thing, and say, look how far we came. Look at what we are now, because of this we are a stronger people. 30 years ago we would never have been allowed to put a black man in office as President. Again, be proud and say look how far we came. If all things of the past are removed, how will you ever explain to your grandchildren, look how far we have come. if I were a black person living in the South I would demand all of those items be put back, so everywhere I went I could say look how far we have come. No matter where you live or who you are your going to have ignorance. Ignorance, is just that, if those items are left in place, they in their ignorance will have to say, look how far they have come. Don't let anyone take away the memories of where you came from. Build on that, explain to your children when they see one of these monuments. You will be able to tell them just how bad things were, but look how far we have come. No one can take away what you have become, stand up be proud, and look how far you have come. Each and every monument should be a learning experience to spread the word of how far you have come. I am a white, suburban soccer mom, and it makes me proud to know how far you have come. Oh Lord I'm preaching now, but one more thing...Everyone, teach your children respect, it is not given, but earned. Know where your kids are, who they are with, and What they are doing. I know most people work and it's hard to keep track of your kids. If that is the situation, the kids either stay home or arrange another mom to take responsibility of the kids for a day. Have a revolving day with other parents. But everyone has come so far, don't let the fact that your kids are unsupervised. Until mine moved out, at 23 moma knew where he was, what he was doing and who he was doing it with. if they give you the crap...well I'm xxx years old, tell them as long as you are under my roof you will abide by mama's rules. If they don't like it, there is the door!
this wasn't written to be some hateful words, it was meant in a loving understanding way. I hope my experience can help one mom, teach about the past and build on a future.

There was never a war against slavery. The civil war was the planters and the northerners profits.

No one ever lost their lives to fight for the freedom of Black Americans. Black people were given freedom to punish the south for not coming back into the Union after the civil war was over.

Then 30 years after Blacks were freed, white people tried to re enslave Blacks in America.

It was a way of life from the 1600's for the rich to have slaves for their plantations to pick their cotton and work their fields. The United States had slaves until and through out 1864. Do you really think Confederate Soldiers join up to die for a rich mans slave? Do you really think Union Soldiers sign up to die to save a rich mans slave? The south succeeded and they defended their south. Men started joining up because they didn't want no Yankees pushing them around. Fathers and sons and brothers joining up. Who were all these people fighting for was each other governments and the rich. We still do this same thing today. Think about it!
