Well, the pirates were dumb, the gold people were dumb, etc.. 70% of this movie is composed by dumb, cartoonish crap and that is a shame. Because there's some jokes that lands, Drax is really likeable in this movie, same goes for Yondu, the emotional stuff all connected with me saved only by the stupid sisters stuff, etc.. A watchable movie. I am honestly surprised to see the reaction in the comments, it doesn't feel sincere to me at all. How can some people consider this better than the first one, how can a adult is capable to laugh at some stupid stuff like Rocket ambushing goons in the florest, send them flying up and down in the most retarded way, gold people playing videogames, the pacman crap... I mean, how can someone laugh at that, sincerelly? The alienation surrounding not only this movie, but every MCU film is really something scary. I still remember people praising Age of Ultron, iron man 3, thor 2... Some time later the finally got rid of the brainwashing. It's unreal, the alienation is really something unexplainable. I can bet everyone will notice how Guardians 2 tried waaaaay to hard, it is even comparable to Age of Ultron the way jokes are shoved in there constantly.

About the Pacman thing, maybe Star-Lord realized that it was pointless clashing against Ego with rocks. It was just rocks against rocks. So he goofed it out by making Pacman.

There is really something weird with people's opinion nowadays. By reading the comments of the movie reviews for these movies, I am certainly confused.
I hated power rangers for clear reasons that people have complained about in other movies before, yet everyone loved it for some reason. I watched spiderman (homecoming), loves it to death and thought they finally got spiderman right, but people seemed to not like that one either. And now this movie, people seem to say things like "it's the best in the MCU!" and I simply cannot understand it, because to me it seemed cliché, unfunny, and actually had pretty bad acting at times. I'm not just basing my expectations of people's opinion on my own opinion, but what people generally seem to think. Since I respect opinions, I won't call it stupid, but it's very strange how people can think this way.

If you think Obidiah, Loki, and Ego are the only Marvel villains worth talking about you really need to watch Agents of SHIELD because there are multiple villains that blow anything the movies got out of the water.

+Novem No, I do not have shit taste. I fall asleep throughout a lot of the episodes. They're really boring. Even the characters are uninteresting. But watching the show is at least better than and more entertaining than Thor: The Dark World. I'll give you that.

    • Novem
      Novem 6 days ago

How could you possibly think it's boring after Episode 18? I mean, it's not brilliant by that point, but by the mid-point of Season 3 it's become one of the best television shows ever made. Plus, the Samuel L Jackson cameo in the finale is gold.

If you don't think the show is good by that point you have shit taste. Objectively. That's how good the show gets.

    • Kevin Reynart
      Kevin Reynart 6 days ago

+Novem Sorry, I've gotta disagree. I've actually made it passed episode 18 and I still find the show extremely boring. That show is not the single best in the MCU. FAR FROM IT!!! Iron Man or Daredevil is the single best thing in the MCU.

    • Novem
      Novem 6 days ago

Only someone who hasn't watched the show past Episode 18 would say that. Go back and put your nose to the grindstone, because that show is the single best thing the MCU has going for it.

This movie just frustrated me so much because nearly every time a character was supposed to be going through a rough moment that moment is ruined by some joke that the scene could have done without. And when Yondu died I wanted to cry, but I had become so paranoid of serious scenes being ruined that the tears wouldn't come and I felt ashamed.

They really hammer in that whole Yondu is your dad thing. I don't know, I liked what it was, I would have loved to figure it out for myself, it would have pretty much given deeper meaning the character of Yondu and why he was the way he was with Star Lord, but like having a character, " I thought Yondu was your dad." at the beginning of the movie was a bit.... Yeah..

  • Psyentist

I liked the "gold people" from the first shot. Look, they're genetically perfect, bred to do whatever their job is, so each time the soldiers are beaten at their drone game, or the queen chick doesn't have her plan come together, they lose their shit and I though it was hilarious. Its weird cultural quirks about what it truly means to explore a diverse and "realistic" galaxy. Its what gave the best comedic moments in this film; from drax's quips to Yondu's Mary Poppins-ing, its all about unique perspectives and I loved it.

  • Shayna H
    Shayna H Month ago +1

I actually really liked this one, but I do still agree with your points. I couldn't stand those gold people, they were unnecessary pests after the first 10 minutes. I did however enjoy the scenes between Yondu and Rocket though, their connection was interesting to me, also a good way to dive a little more into a character that has very little background. I also found it kind of funny how Yondu went from being a bit of a pest like the gold people to me in the first movie to being someone I sympathized with and valued in the second.

I have to disagree with Jeremy, this was probably one of my favorite Marvel movies

TOBLERONE TUBE 2 months ago +2

Here's the problem. Everyone expects Jeremy to always have the perfect opinion because he's a movie reviewer, but he's no different to any of us. He has to have differing opinions just as we do. The best two ways of finding out whether or not a movie is good or not is if the majority of the people who've seen it liked it then it's probably good, or you can just see it yourself and make your own opinion. I mean, what else would have made him give Suicide Squad a fucking "Buy it on Blu Ray"? The only thing that would make me consider buying that piece of shit would be if I needed to wipe my ass with something even more disposable than toilet paper.

Honestly I personally liked Vol .2 Better than the First one. It developed and Gave more Humanity to its Charcters. Even Characters that we thought were just Assholes in the First one like Yondu and Nebula. It had Just as much Fun and Comedy as the first one. Espically with Baby Groot. And the Villian was a lot stronger. Ego was a better and more developed Villian than Ronan

I might be the only one who thinks so, but I loved when he became Pac Man during that Superman 2 moment. Funny as hell and fit in with Star Lords personality, like of course that's what hed do, his power form would be Pac Man for that moment. Might be just me though. And the Gold People made me laugh every time they came into a battle. Obviously they sucked as villians, but I loved the way that basically everyone looked at them as a joke. Basically everyone was like 'Oh how cute, you guys think your so much better than everyone, that's adorable.'

I understand why it was done but one thing that really kind of bugged me is that he lost his powers at the end. Now, as a plot device it works because it just ruins a whole bunch of future story telling if he kept those powers. It'd also alter the ending. But, it was a major plot point that Starlord had the powers inside of himself. It's thewhole reason Ego needed him. So, why the hell does killing Ego remove those powers from Starlord...? The power quite literally was within himself. He IS a celestial (MCU version) and should still be all...celestial-y.

The writing there just didn't make sense to me.

It wasn't so much Yondu's death that made me cry, but when they started playing "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens I just completely LOST it and bawled my eyes out. That song is one of like, three songs in existence that make me cry every time I listen to it, and boy did they hit the nail on the head with it. I really liked this movie.
