What's to say that it isn't life? What really defines life? They seem to work just like life, the similar concentrations being species, energy passing between things, coming together to create new little growing droplets? If a system is complex enough, does that make it life? When does it become life? Where is the border? Maybe I think that is complex and miraculous enough to be called life.

This is nothing like life. You constantly need to add energy to the system to make it work. If you didnt the system would reach equilbrium pretty fast. Your system is seeking out its lowest state. Cells do the opposite, they constantly seeks out a higher state, its fighting its equilbrium, because its certain death. They achive this by using energy from its surroundings to do work. Your system is opposite, its doing what chemical evolutionists is trying to avoid, death.

One question: How is the global moment of the system conserved when one drop chases the other? Doesn't it break the law about thermldynamics? Where does the energy of that motion come from? temperature? so it cools down?

    • Victor Oliva
      Victor Oliva 6 months ago

+Mateus Dias Ribeiro Thanks for the explanation, perfectly makes sense! :D

    • Mateus Dias Ribeiro
Mateus Dias Ribeiro 6 months ago

Victor Oliva The higher concentration drop chases the lower concentration drop because the former evaporates quicker at it's side than the latter. This creates a gradient of vapour concentration and density that decreases along the higher-lower concentration drop direction. So, as there is a disequilibrium of the quantity of vapour molecules from one side in comparison to the other, the side with more molecules in it will push the other side with fewer molecules. The momentum is perfectly conserved because it is a multiphase flow. The extra momentum for this dynamics comes from the molecules in the vapour phase that were stuck in the liquid phase prior to evaporation! The laws of thermodynamics aren't broken as well, the heat evaporates the drops and it happens naturally faster at the spot of surface of the higher concentration drop that is away from the other drop.

There's a slight problem with that last part: Life only deteriorates into extinction. It is mathematically and scientifically impossible for it to happen the other way around. Describing life solely in terms of its chemical properties is like describing a computer solely in terms of its electrical properties. Just like how most of how a computer works is *conceptual* in nature, so is most of how life works *conceptual* in nature. And just as how electricity is our method of realizing the concept of computing, so chemistry is the method of realizing the concept of life. Concepts require a mind that is both capable of creating them and realizing them.

obviously falling into water from a distance can be fatal, but with a different fluid could you be completely fine?

I can tell that you are angry, why you're angry and I like how you structurally channel it into accusations, as opposed to direct negativity, (I did the same thing) however, it is worth noting, they are misguided, for I'm not from the U.S. and I've been to France only one time. America is a bunch of retards alright, but France's current political situation also isn't that great.

    • Gertrude Toucheatonq
      Gertrude Toucheatonq 6 months ago

I'm French, and there is less religious lobbying here, so people can actually get a piece of information about science once in a while. You should get rid of your current government, and try to enforce laws about the separation of education, governement and religion. It works. We (kind of) done it centuries ago, and now we look at America as an autistic child with nuclear bombs greatly due to your bindings with religion.
