I made it today. But instead of pork I used tofu with Zucchini. And I added the water before the bean paste. And I forgot the sugar.
It did not taste good at all. But I archived to have a meal tasting sweet, sour, salty and foremost: bitter!
I am so sad about the poor ingredients 😭

I used to tutor a sweet Korean kid, and I saw she had these japaghetti stuff. I asked if I can bring home some and cook it without knowing what it was. I was expecting some spicy, burnt spaghetti. Was disappointed. Now I kinda want to make and try the authentic one instead.

You shouldn't rinse noodles if your putting them in a sauce, the sauce won't stick as well as it would if you hadn't rinsed them.

    • Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat
      Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat 1 year ago

+Curshna You're suppose to rinse the noodles to give them the proper texture and have it not be slimy. It's wasn't sticking because she didn't drain it fully.

+lexi utti hmmm maybe start with 1/2 tablespoon? then taste it and see. The bean paste is already salty, so it might depend how much saltiness you want. Add a teaspoon of sesame oil in the sauce at the end will add a lot of flavor too :)

+Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat I guess I didn't mean to come off like that as if I'm bragging to people that I'm vegetarian, I'm actually Hindu. I just can't eat beef or pork, thats why I asked. So, is it wrong like that to ask a simple question, whether it bothers people or not? Anyway, I'm sorry if I sounded a bit obnoxious, but I hope you guys understand. Thank you for understanding!

    • Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat
      Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat 1 year ago

+Cassie Howells They don't mean those kinds of substitute, e.i fake fish or beef, they mean things that replaces the meat like your tofu example, but they are also right, most vegetarians should know at least the basic things like that. The only time I've ever seen a vegetarian ask if they can replace something or find a substitute is if they ingredient seems important to the recipe, which, again, Kenny has a good right to be suspicious of the op, because they asked something with a way too obvious answer "Yes, you can sub it with tofu, mushrooms, etc.", but ask an obvious question that most vegetarians/vegans would ask "Can you leave out the oyster sauce? If not, what's a vegetarian friendly substitute?" because the word oyster is in it's name for a reason. Or even "Is the black bean paste vegetarian?" because the paste is usually cooked in chicken or beef broth.

    • Cassie Howells
      Cassie Howells 1 year ago

+TheKennylight most meat substitutes don't taste that great and sometimes they don't work being put in other dishes.

+ArtRageMonster Considering you most likely have been vegetarian for a good while, how come you dont know basic meat substitutions? Are just asking so that you can tell everyone you're a vegetarian?
