Basketballs, or BBs. A common part in Airsoft rifles is a part named the Hopup chamber/moduble/assembly, which applies a bit of backspin to the BB effectively straightening the trajectory and extending range slightly. Too much "Hop" causes the BB to drift upwards in flight and too little "Hop" has deminishing results.

I never knew the name of the effect that makes a curveball curve. A curveball curves downward, anywhere between 12 to 6, and 2 to 8 depending on the angle of downward spin ( for a righty). I've heard from many folks who know baseball say that physics dictates even if you put a huge amount of upward RPM's on a ball, it's impossible to make it rise. Does anyone know if this is true and why, or why not? When certain pitchers with a lot of velocity, like Doc Gooden for example throw a fastball, it sure looks like it rises from the batter's belt to his numbers. However many other power pitchers like Noah Syndergaard have movement on their fastball, just not upwards.

the ship with spinning cilinders... is it really more efficient than a "standard" ship? you need fuel to provide the necessary energy needed to spin those for hours... and they look like they weigh a lot. My point is, to make a ship move forward you have to make a lot of air go backwards. In order to do that, you need cylinders to spin very fast, and that needs an energy source to overcome internal drag due to more moving parts. Is the vantage of having those cylinders worth it? (i could be way wrong, i haven't made any calculations)
